The short version: CDLRisk is a free educational tool for commercial drivers. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose any condition, and does not determine fitness for duty. Use it to understand your sleep health risk factors — not as a substitute for a DOT physical or medical advice.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using cdlrisk.com you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the site. CDLRisk™ is operated by CDLRisk LLC, Spring, Texas ([email protected]).
2. What CDLRisk is — and is not
CDLRisk is an educational wellness tool that helps commercial drivers understand the sleep apnea risk factors that medical examiners reference during DOT physicals. CDLRisk:
- Is NOT a medical device
- Is NOT a diagnostic tool
- Does NOT diagnose sleep apnea or any other condition
- Does NOT determine fitness for duty
- Does NOT replace a DOT physical examination by a certified medical examiner
- Has NOT been evaluated or approved by the FDA
- Does NOT constitute medical advice
Results generated by CDLRisk are educational estimates based on self-reported inputs and published population-level research. They do not predict your individual DOT physical outcome.
3. Individual driver use
The CDLRisk driver tool is free for individual commercial drivers. You may use it for personal educational purposes to understand your own sleep health risk factors before your DOT physical. You may share the tool link with other drivers.
4. Commercial fleet use
Fleet operators, carriers, and employers who wish to deploy CDLRisk as part of a formal driver wellness or fatigue mitigation program require a commercial fleet license. Using cdlrisk.com as an organizational tool — including sharing it with employees as part of a company program — without a fleet license is not permitted under these terms. Contact [email protected] for fleet licensing options.
5. Intellectual property
CDLRisk™ is a pending trademark of Russell Stevenson (USPTO Serial No. 99884979). The CDLRisk name, logo, platform design, and methodology are proprietary. You may not reproduce, copy, rebrand, or create derivative works from CDLRisk without written permission.
6. No warranties
CDLRisk is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no representations that the tool is accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CDLRisk and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this tool — including but not limited to any outcome at a DOT physical, any employment decision, or any medical decision made in reliance on CDLRisk results.
8. Medical decisions
Nothing on cdlrisk.com constitutes medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider or DOT-certified medical examiner for medical decisions, including any decisions related to CPAP therapy, sleep studies, or fitness for duty. Do not delay seeking medical advice based on information from CDLRisk.
9. CPAP compliance information
The CPAP compliance thresholds referenced in CDLRisk (e.g. 70% usage) are based on commonly referenced standards and published research. FMCSA does not mandate a specific compliance percentage. Your specific medical examiner may apply different standards. CDLRisk's compliance guidance is educational only and does not constitute a compliance determination.
10. Changes to terms
We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of cdlrisk.com after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
